Strawberry the unicorn dog has been rescued from euthanasia and is now living a happy life in her permanent home.

It turns out that unicorns are real, and Strawberry is living proof that they are the sweetest creatures. In April 2022, Laura Labelle, owner of the Labelle Foundation in Los Angeles, received an email from a shelter claiming that a pit bull with a bump on her head would be euthanized if she wasn’t rehomed. Labelle immediately knew she had to save the dog, who she called a little unicorn. When Labelle met Strawberry, she was struck by the dog’s loving personality. However, Strawberry was not in the best physical condition and had scabbed over, bright red skin. The rescue raised enough money to get Strawberry a CT scan, which revealed that the bump on her head was old scar tissue, likely from an old injury. While the bump does not cause Strawberry any pain, surgeons decided that it would do more harm than good to try to remove it. Despite her unique appearance, Strawberry is living her best life with her forever family thanks to the efforts of the Labelle Foundation.

Labelle expresses her delight that Strawberry’s bump turned out to be harmless, making her even more endearing. Before being fostered, Strawberry was a happy and friendly spirit who got along with everyone, including Labelle’s cat and children. Strawberry was eventually adopted by a loving family with exceptional children who saw her on the Labelle Foundation’s Instagram page. When Strawberry first arrived at her forever home, she was initially timid and anxious but quickly warmed up to become a fun-loving dog who loves being part of the action and playing fetch with her human siblings. Kristen Kulhman, Strawberry’s new owner, describes her as the most affectionate dog she has ever met. Labelle highlights the importance of recognizing and appreciating unique dogs like Strawberry, who deserve a second chance at life.
